謝國廉 教師

111-1_國際智慧財產權策略管理

教學目標
A growing number of studies have recently demonstrated the impressive contribution of creative enterprises to economic growth, jobs and wealth creation in Asia and the rest of the world. These enterprises which are professionally involved in the creation, production and distribution of creative goods and services have established themselves as an integral component of the vibrant creative economy. They often rely on various forms of intellectual property (IP) to boost their income streams. In this course, we consider how the IP laws in international agreements have regulated the creative industries. Also, we examine how the international IP treaties have been transformed into domestic rules to regulate the industries. We concentrate on the issues of “glocalization”. In particular, we look at how the products in publishing, film, and music industries have been modified to meet the needs of customers in each country. What we will learn in this course can be used to analyse other creative industries, such as advertising and video games industries. The first objective of this course is to develop the analytical and critical skills by detailed examination of global creative industry, relevant international intellectual property treaties, other legal instruments, and case law concerning the relations between the IP rights and creative industry. The second objective is to develop the written and oral skills of students through class discussion and written assessment.
