113-1_計量經濟學
教學目標
Econometrics has become the essential tool that economists use to test the economic theory or estimate the relationship between variables. The growing availability of big data and advances in econometric methods have made econometrics an essential tool for conducting empirical analyses. The goal of this course is to give an introduction to the linear regression models and their applications in economic analyses and policy evaluations. Students are expected to estimate the regression model, make statistical inferences and give an interpretation of the estimated parameters using data. The lecture covers multiple linear regression models, nonlinear models, time series models, panel data models, and causal inferences, including the instrumental approach and the difference-in-differences method. This course also provides hands-on experience for students in using econometric software such as STATA, R, and Python.

113-1_賽局理論與應用
教學目標
In classical economics an agent makes decisions observing market signals, most
importantly the price, as if s/he was isolated from others. However, in real life
the result of an agent’s decision often depends crucially on the decisions made by
others. While an agent is still rational, in this course I want to introduce to you
how economics incorporates the interdependence of decisions of agents in explaining
the economic behaviors of people in such environment. And we will learn to apply the
art to a wide range of situations and have fun, just like in a game!

評分標準
Your performance, and the final grade, is evaluated by three categories of course activity
with weights assigned as follows:
Midterm Exam 100 points
Final Exam 100 points
Quizzes (5 x M) 5M points
Problem sets (20 x N) 20N points
Total 200 + 5M + 20N points
The final grade is the percentage of total earned points out of 200+5M+20N, calculated to the
first decimal place and rounded up to the nearest whole number. NOTE THAT IT WILL NOT BE
ADJUSTED IN ANY CASE. It is you who give yourself the grade, not me!!! Plan your allocation
of time rationally in order to get the grade you demand, and be responsible.
Midterm exam: It is scheduled on the 9th week at class time. There is no make-up exam. If
you have to miss the midterm exam for a legitimate reason, the weight of your final will be
increased enough to account for the missed points. You should inform your professor in advance if possible.
Final exam: It is required of all students and scheduled on the last week at class time.
Again, there is no make-up exam. If you miss the final exam FOR WHATEVER REASON, your
score will be zero. Note that I will not be able to reschedule any of the exams.
Quizzes: An online quiz is prepared after one or two topics to test your understanding and practice the analytical skill. It will be done in the class and is worth 5 points. Problem sets: There will be a problem set worth 20 points after one or two chapters. You need
to turn in your solutions at the beginning of the class a week after it is announced (usually
in class). Answers will be posted afterward. Late submission will be penalized, if not rejected!

113-1_計量經濟學
The lecture covers multiple linear regression models, probability models, panel data models, and causal inferences, including the instrumental approach and the difference-in-differences method. This course also provides hands-on experience for students in using econometric software such as STATA, R, and Python.

教學目標
Students are expected to acquire basic knowledge to the analytical tools covered in the course, and are able to analyze the economic events related to international trade.
授課形式
理論講述與討論-100.00%;個案分析或作品賞析-0.00%;專題實作與報告-0.00%;田野調查-0.00%;實驗-0.00%;其他-0.00%
課程內容與進度
This course consists of two parts: international trade and trade policy. The first part of the course covers the canonical trade theories including the Ricardian, Heckscher-Ohlin and Krugman models. Through the lens of these models we study how international trade arise and the mechanisms behind the resulting welfare gains. The second part of the course will cover policy aspects of trade, including policy instruments and analysis on trade policies and trade agreements. For the rest of the course, we will cover more advanced (selected) topics in international trade such as FDI, outsourcing, sectoral linkages, global value chain, wage income inequality and political economy.
教科書/參考書
The course will be taught with home-made course materials developed from Prof. Pao-Li Chang’s undergraduate trade at School of Economics, Singapore Management University.
No textbooks are required for this course. But if you feel like to have one, here is one of the most widely used textbook:
Krugman, Obstfeld, and Melitz, (2015), International Economics: Theory and Policy, 10th ed.

Participation quiz (10%): A participation quiz will be given in-class to evaluate attendance and content mastery. You will get a basic point for attendance.
Q&A / discussion during lecture (20%): Students are encouraged to speak up in class by asking or answering questions. You should ask questions if clarifications of the course materials are needed. Students are encouraged to share their answers for participation quizzes and discuss the reasoning behind. Students who speak up regularly will generally receive an acceptable, if not an excellent rating. Students should elaborate their arguments as detail as possible when in discussion or answering questions. A good argument would warrant an excellent rating. Answers without at least some elaborations or totally irrelevant have negative effect for this part.
Examinations: Both examinations are open note and cumulative. Please note that NO makeup examinations will be provided. If you are absent from the scheduled exams, you will receive zero marks for these grade components.
